    Overview

Minecraft Stats is a free, open-source platform for tracking Minecraft server statistics. We try to collect as little personal data as possible and to be transparent about what we do collect. This policy explains what data we process, why, and the rights you have over it. It complements our Terms of Service.

    Data We Collect

    Account Data

When you create an account, we store the username, email address, and password you provide. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. If you sign in via Google or Discord, we may also receive basic profile information such as your display name and profile picture from that provider.

    Content You Submit

If you add a Minecraft server, we store the server details you provide (such as its address and name) so we can ping it and display its statistics. This data is public by nature.

    Usage and Analytics Data

Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit) and use analytics to understand how the site is used. This is done both through our own first-party analytics and through third-party tools. Our first-party analytics only run after you give your consent, and we never store your IP address in clear text. See the dedicated sections below for details.

    How We Use Your Data

    • To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
    • To provide the platform's features, including server statistics.
    • To measure audience and improve the website's performance and content.
    • To display advertising that helps keep the service free.
    • To ensure the security and proper functioning of the website.

    Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in, to remember your analytics consent choice, and — once you have consented — to store the anonymous visitor identifier used by our first-party analytics. Our third-party providers (analytics and advertising) may also set cookies or similar identifiers on your device. You can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings, and you can manage advertising preferences as described below. Disabling some of these may affect how parts of the site work.

    First-Party Analytics

In addition to the third-party tools below, we run our own analytics, with the data stored on our own servers rather than shared with an external provider. This helps us measure how much traffic the site receives and how our pages are used, so we can improve them. It works at two levels, described below.

    Anonymous measurement (no consent required)

To count overall traffic and how many distinct visitors we receive — including those who decline the detailed analytics below — we keep a purely anonymous, aggregate tally. It sets no identifier on your device and stores no personal data: your IP address and browser type are folded into a statistical estimator (a HyperLogLog) that can produce counts but cannot single out, re-identify, or list any individual. Because this processing is anonymous, it runs without consent, in line with audience-measurement guidance.

    Detailed analytics (with your consent)

The richer measurement described next only runs after you opt in through the consent banner.

    What we collect

    • An anonymous visitor identifier we generate and store in your browser's local storage.
    • The pages you visit, the page that referred you, and your browser type (user agent).
    • An approximate country, derived from your connection.
    • A hashed, non-reversible form of your IP address. We never store your IP address in clear text; the hash only lets us group visits from the same connection without keeping the address itself.

    Consent

You opt in to the detailed analytics above through the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, we do not record those detailed events — only the anonymous aggregate count described earlier continues. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which also resets your anonymous visitor identifier.

    Link with your account

If you are signed in, we may associate your anonymous visits with your account so we can understand usage by logged-in members. A single device or connection can be linked to more than one account, and a single account to several devices. You can request deletion of this data at any time (see Your Rights below).

    Retention

Individual page-view records are automatically deleted after 90 days. Only aggregated, anonymized statistics (such as daily page counts) are kept beyond that period.

    Third-Party Services

    Umami

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to measure aggregate audience and traffic. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect data that identifies you individually; it reports anonymized, aggregated metrics. Analytics data is processed by Umami on our behalf.

For more information, see Umami's Privacy Policy.

    Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager to load and manage the measurement scripts described in this policy. Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal data, but it loads other tags that may. It is provided by Google, which processes data in accordance with its policies.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

    Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site through aggregated metrics and, in some cases, session recordings (such as mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling). Clarity may set cookies and process data such as your IP address; recordings are masked to avoid capturing sensitive input. Microsoft uses this data in accordance with its policies.

For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

    Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which helps keep Minecraft Stats free. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads and, where applicable, to personalize them based on your activity. We do not control the specific ads shown.

You can review and control how Google personalizes ads, and opt out of personalized advertising, through your Google Ads Settings. More information is available in Google's advertising policies.

    Authentication Providers

If you sign in with Google or Discord, those providers process your data under their own privacy policies. We only receive the basic profile information needed to create and identify your account.

    Data Storage and Security

Account and server data is stored on a Pulseheberg VPS located in France. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect your data against unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take security seriously.

    Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and the services are provided. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we will delete it unless we are required to retain it for legal reasons. First-party analytics page-view records are deleted after 90 days, as described above. Aggregate, anonymized statistics may be kept indefinitely.

    Your Rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

    • Right of access
    • Right to rectification
    • Right to erasure
    • Right to restriction of processing
    • Right to object
    • Right to data portability
